My Life Between Two Worlds: The Real World and The “Smart” World
See, down below on the bed, this is the world I'm still learning how to be in.
My journey with technology started in middle school when my oldest brother, Arnel, brought home our first desktop computer. It lived in the kitchen and I was hooked to loud sounds of dial up and I grew instantly giddy at the final sounds of connection.
Ahhhh... it was as if I had a portal into a brand new world!
Instantly- I was HOOKED to the internet. It made school projects cooler and easier. I had more friends on it from different schools... even different states. My “shy” self didn’t seem awkward in a chatroom cause I would just wait to say something when I thought it was good enough to post.
I had internet “crushes” and I surfed the web constantly on new interests: mostly mindless gossip, information for school assignments/projects, or boyband fan pages.
THAT WAS SMART ENOUGH FOR ME
BUT THE WORLD JUST KEPT GETTING SMARTER.AND.SMARTER.
By the beginning of college, disks were crazy old and CDs were legit. Ethernet replaced dial up. WIFI replaced Ethernet. Laptops replaced desktop computers. By the end of my undergraduate years (3.5 years to be exact),even CDs died.
Everyone did MP3s.
Once the world got smarter, everything changed-at an alarming rate. Saying this world is a fast paced world is an understatement... and even if you describe it as lightning fast- that’s still not fast enough.

Frustrating. I KNOW.
Personally, I feel the world is getting TOO smart for me-
Call me old fashioned but know I am only 35 years old!
IN.HUMAN.YEARS.I.AM.STILL.YOUN G.
Don't get me wrong I take full advantage of modern amenities like Amazon Prime and Grocery pick up- but, I do get lost in a new world of options, apps, and devices.
Enter in -MORE BIG GIRL PANTIES- ....
If I'm going to make it in the REAL world, I got to compromise and do some things the "SMARTER" way.
I value simple human experiences like meals around the table, walks around the neighborhood with the kids, the beach, the park, pretty much anything outdoors. I like the movie theatre and I like the popcorn more. I love dining out and I love to cook.
I'm starting to figure out, if you truly love some things- you'll have to work it into your life via some Smart app or accountability device. That is just how the world works now and days.
So, I think I'm finally coming to grips with it and am more willing to learn.
In Essence- I'm taking my life back.
Even if I have to figure it out myself. I'm starting to realize 35 can still feel young as long as I am willing to adjust and change my learning the new smarter way. Who's with me!
Thanks for reading!
Love.Always,
Crystal
